  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi! I'm Jennifer Schattle and I'm a portrait photographer based in Austin, Texas.

At every single portrait session I photograph, I strive to capture more than just how you look. My goal is to tell a story ... the story of you. Who you are today, right now, in this moment. Silly three year olds are allowed (and encouraged!) to be silly. Teenagers are never asked to say cheese. Don’t want to pose in front of the fireplace? Good, because I wasn’t planning on asking you to. Children and family portraiture has come a long way in the last few years and there’s nobody more excited about it than me. Whether you’re just starting your family, up to your ears in peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or sending your teenager off to college soon ... I’m here to help capture the moments you’ll be looking back on for a lifetime.

So relax, ditch the matching outfits, be yourselves and let’s have a blast!

Craig + Sarah + Miss Camryn

What a fabulous time I had with Craig, Sarah and their adorable Miss Camryn. Not only was she full of the sweetest smiles and laughs, she had the most amazing big blue eyes! I really enjoyed my session with this family and can’t wait to show you my favorites.

Here they are!

I told you Miss Camryn has gorgeous eyes!

So sweet.

Craig and Sarah, I had the best time! Thanks for letting me hangout with your little princess.

Scott + Heather + Baby makes three!

I was so excited for Scott and Heather’s maternity session to get here … and it couldn’t have gone more perfectly. Not only did I have a fabulous assistant – Aunt Tracy – the props Heather thought to bring were absolutely perfect. From using her grandmother’s velvet red couch to glittery shoes for both her and her sweet baby girl to having Scott hang a darling chandelier in the tree … it was a wonderful shoot!

I have way too many favorites.

Love the glittery little red shoes.

Love. Love.

Heather ~ just gorgeous.

Scott and Heather – I can’t wait to meet your little princess.

Here are my favorites.

Ashley’s hair is so pretty!

Miss Natalie was worn out!

My fabulous finds … things that I love

I have a list forming of things I’d like to share with you … just need to find the time to photograph everything. Anywhere from blingy new trucker hats like one of the housewives of Orange County wears, to cute wedges and fabulous earrings ~ I recently attended Antique Weekend in Warrenton, Texas. I promise to blog these fabulous finds soon!

Cadet Hats. I received this cute hat from my parents and grandmother for my birthday. I’ve seen various kinds while in Canton and in random boutiques along the way, but have never purchased one for myself. While shopping with mom in La Grange a few weeks before my February birthday, I fell in love with this cadet hat. After I headed back to Austin, mom went back and bought it for me. Needless to say, I was excited when I opened my present during a family dinner!

Saltgrass Seven – 7 – Steak Spice. While eating at a Saltgrass in Katy one day for lunch, mom asked the waiter what they seasoned their yummy grilled chicken with. I was kinda horrified because I thought there was no way he’d ever divulge the company’s secret seasonings, but boy was I wrong. He quickly replied, “Oh! We use our Saltgrass Seven Steak Spice on everything. And if you’re interested, we sell it too!” NO WAY!!!

Mom and I walked out each with one. At $4.75 a bottle, you can’t beat the 12 oz shaker. I use it on everything from chicken to salmon to baked potatoes to carrots and green beans. Obviously, I haven’t found anything it doesn’t taste good on. And don’t get me started on their Select Club – I can’t tell you how many rewards points I’ve racked up already.

NuStevia. Almost a year ago, I started a weight loss journey and boy has it been a fun ride. Not only do I feel better, my clothes fit better too! It’s amazing how good weight loss and healthier choices are for the soul. I’m in a much better place having lost 60 lbs, and going to the gym is no longer something I dread doing. The results I’m seeing are so worth it! And thanks to my nutritionist Kim Porterfield at the Institue of Eating Management, I’m definitely learning what foods and portions are right for me.

Stevia is something that I use all day long. In my egg white breakfast smoothies, greek yogurt snacks, to sweeten my tea, coffee and even my water. This stuff goes everywhere with me and I can’t tell enough people about it. My parents, sister and I are all obsessed with the particular NuStevia brand and hope you’ll give it a try!

What fabulous stuff have you found recently! Do tell!!

When the bluebonnets bloom

You might remember sweet Miss Paisley from her newborn session 6 months ago … and I’m pretty certain I had the best time with her on a recent outing in the blue bonnets. Paisley was full of cute smiles – especially when she was watching her big brother Wyatt.

Here are my favorites.

What do I have here?!?

Catherine with her sweet baby girl.

Jonah hanging out with his handsome little guy.

I told you Paisley loves her brother!!

Jonah and Catherine ~ thanks for letting me photograph your sweet family! Wyatt and Paisley are just too cute!!
