  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi! I'm Jennifer Schattle and I'm a portrait photographer based in Austin, Texas.

At every single portrait session I photograph, I strive to capture more than just how you look. My goal is to tell a story ... the story of you. Who you are today, right now, in this moment. Silly three year olds are allowed (and encouraged!) to be silly. Teenagers are never asked to say cheese. Don’t want to pose in front of the fireplace? Good, because I wasn’t planning on asking you to. Children and family portraiture has come a long way in the last few years and there’s nobody more excited about it than me. Whether you’re just starting your family, up to your ears in peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or sending your teenager off to college soon ... I’m here to help capture the moments you’ll be looking back on for a lifetime.

So relax, ditch the matching outfits, be yourselves and let’s have a blast!

12 days new … Meet Courtney JoLynn

“Promise me you will always remember …
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”

~ Christopher Robin to Pooh

It seems like the past nine months have just crept right along … once James and Tara announced they were adding to their family, I couldn’t wait to see if their newest addition was going to have red hair like big brother Kyle. To my delight, sweet Miss Courtney has dark hair, big blue eyes and the most precious plump little lips … oh how I could just squeeze her!

Here are my favorites.

Sweet smiles …

LOVE.

Look at those big blue eyes …

Now for a little family time.

I’d love to know what Kyle is thinking …

James and Tara, thanks for letting me photograph your precious baby girl.

May your days be bright.

“How beautiful is youth! How bright it gleams with its illusions, aspirations, dreams!
Book of Beginnings, Story without End, Each maid a heroine, and each man a friend!”

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This particular shoot turned out beautifully … not only did Jimmy join us in the photos … I’d be happy to say we were successful in getting Miss Brenna, Cade and Miss Camdyn to look – all in the SAME direction – at the SAME time! Holla!! And it’s here that I’d like to give a special thank you to Debra, Michelle’s mom, and Colin, Michell’s nephew, for working behind the scenes to make sure everything went smoothly!

Several times a year, Michelle gathers up her three sweet kiddos and meets me for photos. I so love this!! It’s fun watching them all interact with one another and grow into little people.

Here are my favorites.

Miss Brenna is a doll!

Girls have the cutest tights nowadays ~ seriously!!

A lil mom and dad time …

Jimmy and Michelle, thanks for sharing your family with me! xo

Merry everthing. Fabulous always.

Brad and Erin have a darling family … and I just love getting to spend time with their sweet kiddos Ben and Miss Ellie! My favorite part was seeing how grown-up they’ve both become and how Miss Ellie wasn’t afraid to chat with me this year.

Here are my favorites.

Erin, LOVED all of your outfits!

Look how sweet Ben and Miss Ellie are!!

Adorable …

and even more adorable!!

Hanging out in the country in front of an old fireplace … this is all that’s left from Erin’s grandmother’s home before it was torn down.

Oh Ben. You are so handsome.

Brad and Erin, thanks for letting me spend time with your sweet kiddos again!

Last weekend I enjoyed a fun session with Steve, Ginger and their son Brian. And even though it was nice and chilly that morning, it beat our first attempt a few weeks prior when we stood out in the rain deciding to reschedule. Whoever decided we were in a drought, hasn’t been on some of my recent photo outings … I swear it rains every time I get ready to leave the house to meet clients. But how quickly I digress …

Ginger and I work together during the week and I consider her a good friend. She’s super sweet and very thoughtful ~ lucky me!! And her husband and son, are just as awesome as she is! Throughout our time together, I enjoyed giving Brian a hard time about girlfriends, studying for college finals and being up so early on a Saturday morning.

Here are my favorites.

Steve and Ginger … ya’ll are so cute!

And after a location change …we were ready to go again.

I like this one too!

And we’ll end with Brian.

Steve, Ginger and Brian ~ thanks for hanging out with me!

Love is all you need.

Colby and Allison have two of the sweetest daughters, and born at only 25 weeks weighing 1 lb. 10 oz. and 1 lb. 14 oz., Addie and Mae are both cute as can be and nothing short of miracles. At first Allison helped me out by putting different colored bows in the girl’s hair, after an outfit change and new hair clips, I could no longer tell them apart.

Here are my favorites.

Meet Mae.

Meet Addie.

And look who each decided to pull out the only thing helping me tell them apart …

Too cute! And thank goodness Allison kept this fabulous chair out of her garage sale …

Playing with vintage finds is always fun!

Sigh.

Colby and Allison, thanks for sharing a wonderful evening with me. I really enjoyed hanging out with Addie and Mae – they are beyond precious.
