  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi! I'm Jennifer Schattle and I'm a portrait photographer based in Austin, Texas.

At every single portrait session I photograph, I strive to capture more than just how you look. My goal is to tell a story ... the story of you. Who you are today, right now, in this moment. Silly three year olds are allowed (and encouraged!) to be silly. Teenagers are never asked to say cheese. Don’t want to pose in front of the fireplace? Good, because I wasn’t planning on asking you to. Children and family portraiture has come a long way in the last few years and there’s nobody more excited about it than me. Whether you’re just starting your family, up to your ears in peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or sending your teenager off to college soon ... I’m here to help capture the moments you’ll be looking back on for a lifetime.

So relax, ditch the matching outfits, be yourselves and let’s have a blast!

Meet Kelly :: Round Top Senior

“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”

~ Joseph Campbell

While driving several miles out into the country down a quite farm to market road, I couldn’t wait to meet Kelly. She had invited me to her family’s home for her senior session, and as I pulled into the gate, I quickly fell in love with their gorgeous place. Everywhere I looked, there were fabulous oak trees that had to be centuries old, and it was in that moment that I was super happy Kelly picked a place close to her heart to remember her senior year by.

Here are my favorites.

Kelly you are stunning.

Love my seniors and all their wardrobe changes!!

Want to take photos amongst these gorgeous oak trees???? YES please!!!

And of course Mickey had to take a photo with Kelly!

Next year Kelly will attend the University of Texas to major in Communications ~ Public Relations. I think she’s found her first football game outfit!!

Kelly, thanks so much for letting me spend a beautiful Sunday evening with you. Enjoy the rest of your senior year!!

Meet Tiffany :: Round Top Senior

“I grew up where I could see the stars
Drinking sweet tea from a mason jar

People on the porch watchin’ fireflies
And drivin’ round [Brenham] on a Friday night.”

~ Kellie Pickler

Tiffany is a super cute senior graduating from Round Top this year and I’m pretty sure I don’t know where the last 18 years have gone… I still remember her as the shy little blonde-headed girl running barefooted around her great-granny’s yard. With plans to become a dental hygienist, Tiffany is headed to college next year and I wish her all the best!

Here are my favorites.

Love that little white church.

Every girl needs a little black dress … especially when paired with fabulous boots!

A definite favorite!

Love it!!

Tiffany, enjoy the rest of your senior year and may your future be everything you’ve hoped … and more! xo

Camdyn & Cade :: Happy First Birthday!!

“Babies are bits of star-dust blown from the hand of God. Lucky the woman who knows the pangs of birth for she has held a star.”

~ Larry Barretto

It’s been awhile since I’ve photographed Camdyn and Cade, and gosh have they grown! With their first birthday fast approaching, Michelle was excited to take photos and so was I. I arrived at their home early last Saturday and was greeted at the door by Miss Brenna who recently turned four. Where does the time go?!?!

Michelle was busy in the living room dressing Camdyn and Cade in their sweet little outfits that she’d had especially made for their party. She then scooped up Brenna to fix her hair and asked if I’d watch the babies… Oh my goodness…I just don’t know how she keeps up with them!!

Cade was sitting on the floor playing with a fun toy, while Camdyn quickly disappeared around the couch and into the toy room to see what things of Miss Brenna’s she could get in to. As she reached out for a little doll and purse, I moved them to higher ground. By the time Michelle was finished, and we are talking five minutes, I was tired. And just like that…she picked up both Camdyn and Cade and was ready to head outside. WOW.

I’ll start with my favorite from our session…

Cade loved the balloons!

Miss Camdyn had other thoughts…like wondering why she was having to take time out of her play schedule for my photos.

LOVE these next two.

Cade loves his big sister…

And so does Camdyn.

Oh. So. Fabulous.

And now for a lil’ cupcake fun. Jimmy and Michelle both helped make them, and by the looks of things, they were a big success!

At one point, Jimmy asked who’s brilliant idea this was…Michelle quickly pointed at me. Apparently someone else did too.

And here are a few that I took of big sister Miss Brenna…what a beautiful little girl she is.

Jimmy and Michelle, thanks for letting me capture Camdyn and Cade’s first birthday photos! They are adorable. xo

9 days new…meet Bryker Kenneth

“A new baby is like the beginning of all things – wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities.”

~ Eda J. Le Shan

I was just dying to know how Bryker got his name, because it’s so unique, and I love a good story. Kelly, Bryker’s super sweet mom, told me how she and her husband John had been looking for the perfect two-syllable name and even had one in mind. One day while visiting a girlfriend, Kelly stumbled across this amazing name instead. As she entered into the Bryker subdivision, she knew she had found what she was looking for.  And she and John soon fell in love with it.

Here are my favorites.

Bryker was another one of my precious newborns who didn’t want to miss a thing. So he made sure to keep his eyes open for most of our session.

I always love a super cute nursery.

This little lamp was John’s when he was a baby. Now it has a new home in Bryker’s nursery.

After awhile, Bryker began to get tired…

And soon was fast asleep.

Look at his sweet little fingers and that head of hair!

A few with the proud parents.

John and Kelly, thank you very much for letting me spend time with your precious baby boy.

Family love and a park playdate.

“God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.”

~ Martin Luther

Ashley and her sweet family met me out at the park last Sunday morning to enjoy a fun playdate. With all the activity going on -people walking about and dogs running everywhere – I really think Ashley had a great time and wasn’t quite ready to leave. Every time I see her, she’s gotten taller, faster and even cuter than before.

Here are my favorites.

Hanging out with dad is always fun!

Love this family

Melanie is a fabulous mom.

Cute. Cute. Cute.

Bob and Melanie, thank you so much for allowing me to hangout with your little princess.
