  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi! I'm Jennifer Schattle and I'm a portrait photographer based in Austin, Texas.

At every single portrait session I photograph, I strive to capture more than just how you look. My goal is to tell a story ... the story of you. Who you are today, right now, in this moment. Silly three year olds are allowed (and encouraged!) to be silly. Teenagers are never asked to say cheese. Don’t want to pose in front of the fireplace? Good, because I wasn’t planning on asking you to. Children and family portraiture has come a long way in the last few years and there’s nobody more excited about it than me. Whether you’re just starting your family, up to your ears in peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or sending your teenager off to college soon ... I’m here to help capture the moments you’ll be looking back on for a lifetime.

So relax, ditch the matching outfits, be yourselves and let’s have a blast!

Bob, Tricia, Chase + Avery :: Family Love

“For you see, each day I love you more
Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.”

~ Rosemonde Gerard

Bob and Tricia recently invited me into their beautiful home to spend a gorgeous Sunday with their family. As I rang the doorbell, I was greeted by Tricia who was all smiles and wishing me happy birthday, as Chase ran around excited for what the morning had in store.

Bob, babysitter Sarah and I started off with a trip to the park to allow Avery time to finish up her nap. But I must say, keeping up with Chase is hard to do – if only I had all his energy

Here are my favorites.

I am very drawn to this photo, maybe because it truly shows how little boys are…full of adventure and always on the go.

Oh Chase…how I just want to squeeze you.

The first time you met Avery, she was seven days new. Here she is just four short months later…

Tricia with her sweet baby girl.

They are the cutest family…

Oh. My. Goodness…LOVE!!

Bob and Tricia, thank you for letting me enjoy this fabulous Sunday with all of you.

Inspiration…Creating Adorable Baby Nurseries

“Guardian Angel pure and bright, guard me while I sleep tonight.”

~ Unknown

Although I took newborn photos of Avery four months ago, I couldn’t resist featuring her nursery as inspiration. I’m just loving her pink polka dot curtains, the really cute owl sheets and the sweet little piggy bank that sits on the bookcase.

Photographing newborns is a lot of fun, especially because I get to see their cute nurseries. Each one is so different and it’s always obvious that no details have been left out.

Enjoy this gorgeous nursery by one of my fabulous moms ~ Tricia!

I’m absolutely smitten with Avery’s color palette.

I love these custom letters!

Tricia, thanks for letting me grab a few photos of Miss Avery’s nursery. You really outdid yourself!

My fabulous finds…things that I love

I decided it was time to share a few of my fabulous finds! Just wait until you see all the lovelies I have in store for you today…

Jennifer Schattle Photography. 2010 was an amazing year filled with many wonderful clients and their precious families. Wanting to start this year off with something fresh and reflective of my personal style, I turned to my good friend Jenifer Hill, who also happens to be an uber talented designer, for help with my new look. I provided her with an inspiration board of things that I loved, liked or found inspiring, which led Jenifer to create this fabulous new brand for my business. I’m so in love with what she came up with and cannot thank her enough for her time and talents.

The following is a peek at my price list.

Instax MINI 7s. Looking for a fun little camera that guaranteed instant satisfaction and absolute adorableness…I fell head over heals for Fujifilm’s Instax Mini 7s. The photos are the size of credit cards and using the camera is an absolute breeze! I carry it with me in my camera bag and just love all the mini-memories I’m making every time I pull it out.

Vintage treasures. As you all know, I’m obsessed with the color green. Recently I decided it would be so much fun to collect old wooden spools of green thread and place them in a cute glass canister to use as decor. I asked my grandmother if she had anything that I could borrow…needless to say…my canister is complete and even proudly displays my great-grandmother’s sewing scissors and a card of buttons from Perry’s Drug Store.

My next goal…actually learning to sew.

Aspen Bay Candles. Mom recently surprised me with a beautiful candle from Urban Nest in La Grange. Every time I light it, my kitchen is filled with aromas of delicious baked apples, cinnamon and spices – oh my goodness it’s absolutely wonderful.

Do you have any vintage treasures in your home that you absolutely love?

8 days new…Meet Cash Collins

” [Love]. Your mother and I [have] it, we [have] roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.”

~ St. Augustine

Reid and Jamie welcomed me into their gorgeous home to photograph their newest addition Cash Collins. At just eight days old, he had a head full of precious blonde hair and was a tiny little guy.

Here are my favorites.

Sigh. I just love this one.

Tyler is so sweet with her baby brother.

Jamie you are a stunning mom.

Another favorite.

And I’ll end with this sneak peek at his nursery.

Reid and Jamie, thank you so much for letting me spend time with your adorable children.
